ROLEX FASTNET RACE 2025: FOR THE FIRST TIME, AN EXCESS 14 ON THE START LINE!

A passion turned major project:

Gary and his wife weren’t really looking to race the Fastnet Race at first… But when they discovered the Excess 14, it was a no-brainer. Generous volumes for living aboard with their two dogs, a comfortable design for long passages, and above all: a true connection to the sea.
The double steering stations made the difference. “I wanted to feel the sea, not just look at it from above on a flybridge,” explains Gary.

A catamaran built for performance:

An enthusiast of innovation, Gary quickly customized his boat: Starlink, electric winches, state-of-the-art instruments, camera for night maneuvers… The goal: more simplicity, more safety, but always with that agility characteristic of Excess.
With the Pulse Line version and a code 0, he measured all the potential of his boat during a first local regatta. The next step? Almost a crazy bet: to line up at the start of the Rolex Fastnet Race 2025.

An adventure made possible:

Thanks to the support of his dealer Sea Ventures, Gary started with confidence. The result? “The boat really holds its own; it’s phenomenal. There’s not much I would change.”
For him, the Excess 14 combines the best of both worlds: a seaworthy, safe, and high-performing catamaran, but also a true living cocoon with a master cabin designed like a private suite.

And now?

After 191 miles of pure commitment, Gary doesn’t plan to stop there. The Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta is already in his sights. A new adventure to share aboard his Excess 14.
This story illustrates what makes Excess: pushing boundaries and experiencing the sea differently.
