Crossing the Atlantic doesn't start on departure day. It all begins long before: at the boatyard, on the dock, around a cockpit table.
In the endless lists, the never-ending discussions, the doubts that creep in… then fade away.
That's exactly what 3000 Miles is about, the new Excess documentary, available today:
Two families, one ocean
The film follows two crews in the weeks leading up to the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), one of the most iconic transatlantic rallies.
On one side, a Dutch family with three children, aboard an Excess 11.
On the other, a Franco-South African couple at the helm of an Excess 14.
Two boats, two stories… but one shared heading: reaching the other shore.
Preparing the boat. Learning. Training. Anticipating. Managing provisions, technical challenges, life on board. Dealing with fears, while letting the excitement grow.
Little by little, everything falls into place. Until the question is no longer "are we ready?" But simply: "when do we leave?"
