From May 20 to 23, Canet-en-Roussillon brought together 35 owners from every corner of the globe for the fourth edition of the Excess Campus. Three days centred around sailing, boats, and the people who love them.
Rigging, harbour manoeuvres, weather, electronics, maritime medicine, SNSM module… every training session was led by a professional. Skippers, doctors, technical experts: so many encounters that allowed everyone to go home with new skills and a deeper knowledge of their Excess catamaran.
The highlight of this edition was written at sea. Two hours of sailing toward Collioure, and halfway through, the thermal breeze kicked in. Five Excess boats racing, a pushing breeze, and one Excess breaking through the 10-knot barrier. Arriving in the bay of Collioure under a flawless blue sky — that's the moment everyone will carry with them.
And during the sail, crews went head to head in a challenge organised in partnership with Seanapps. Integrated on all Excess boats, this app gives real-time access to the vessel's navigation metrics. Three trophies up for grabs: the fastest, the longest distance covered, and the best Excess logo drawn on the GPS track. A format that revealed as much ingenuity as it did competitiveness.
Thirty-five participants, several nationalities, one shared playground. What happens at the Excess Campus goes beyond a training programme. It's the bonds that form naturally, between people who share the same passion for sailing.
See you next year!
